Quiet backwaters

This really was a quiet, uneventful Sunday. Nice, sunny weather, just right for a saunter up the lane and back, and quiet, smooth activities to fill the house with peace and gentle, civilised industry.

Graham is proceeding steadily with the application of new tiles to the kitchen ceiling, only one or two days away from completion at the most, and I'm getting happier and happier with pen and brush, making little pictures and dreaming of river and small sea craft sailing on quiet waters.

I can see me being an ardent fan of the river buses and tourist trips when we get to London. The Thames is a big river, busy with boats and commerce of all kinds and yet with enough quiet backwaters to satisfy anyone. And then there's the canals... mustn't forget the canals.
