"It's all very well, drawing pretty little boats out of your head," Graham said. "Wouldn't you be better off outdoors drawing the real thing?"

I put my brush down and stretched right back, feeling cramped sinews creak in protest. "Nah," I said. "It's cold out there."

"I suppose you're going to say it's warm in your head?"

"Now you mention it..."
