Barbellion with his family This shows Barbellion with his brother Arthur, sister Emily, and their mother. Barbellion was extremely close to his family, especially his mother who died on August 20, 1913, when Barbellion was 24 years old. From the journal: August 21, 1913. A wire from A— came at 11.50 saying 'Darling Mother passed peacefully away yesterday afternoon' . . . Yesterday afternoon I was writing Zoology and all last night I slept soundly. . . . It was quite sudden. Caught the first train home. |
