Stitches
sometimes
in lonely places
sounding of leaves
or of waves rendering stone to sand
or of winds reducing landscape to its bones
the flash of a poet's needle is seen
mending
repairing
making new garments from old
threading a new song
sometimes
when the light is just so
catching needles and threads
leaves, waves and wind choir-sing under racing skies
and dance shellac-scratched measures to a poet's new-stitched tune
